Fear of the Unknown

Mankind is afraid of what they don't know or understand. Fear is fabricated by ignorance. Most choose to remain ignorant because of that debilitating fear or maybe they are just lazy and don't want to take the time to learn. Well not me. I choose to ask the questions. I choose to open my mind and try to understand about other cultures. This is especially true in Morocco where Islam is the majority religion.
I know nothing, nor do I pretend to know anything, about Islamic culture. But my ignorance stems from lack of exposure, not fear. I choose to immerse myself and soak up the culture. Just because someone has different beliefs than you, doesn't devalue the culture. Islam is the 2nd largest religion in the world. I feel it is especially important in today's modern times, to educate first before anything else. If we remain ignorant, we will remain in fear of the unknown; something I choose not to let cloud my cultural experience. Open your mind and it will open your heart. At the end of the day, we are all human beings. We all exist.
