Art is Teleportation

You gaze, transfixed, deeply into a painting

others move around you, some passing, some bumping into you, yet you remain transfixed

No longer is the mind present

instead you are lost in the colorful brushstrokes recreating another world

As you continue to let the mind soar, a woman stands next to you and begins to speak

wondering why you haven't responded, she looks up and gasps, "Oh, I thought you were my husband, sorry."

She too was transfixed and lost in the painting, so much so that, for a moment, her reality altered. You became an elderly woman's husband. All consciousness of her reality, gone.

Art has that power; to teleport the mind. In that moment, you could be the artist gazing out over the same landscape you desire to express so decisively with each brushstroke.

Try losing yourself in a piece of art. It can be a very cathartic experience for the mind and soul.
