Art as an Outlet of Deeper Connection

Feelings of inadequacy flood the minds of artists

Artists often struggle with the need for validation, but also struggle with issues of legitimacy if one does not pursue, wholeheartedly, their art.

There are many days when one wants to give up and move on. These are the days when one should dive deeper into their art.

You would not pursue art if you did not feel deeply connected to something greater than yourself. Both a blessing and a curse, artists feel everything deeper. Pain, sorrow, joy, pleasure, jealousy, anger, etc.

Explore that deeper connection and dive deeper into the understanding of self. Who are you at your core? Your simplest, truest, purist form?

It is important to speak your answer aloud to manufacture a concrete image of yourself. The complex specificity of details (emotions, feelings, desires, fears, etc.) come later. Don't let those messy, yet specific, details cloud your image of who you are.

Artists are complex, intellectual, complicated beings, but not at our core. We are all deeply connected to one another and our art. My struggle is our struggle. We must continue to learn about each other and how to connect on a deeper level. Art is one of the many outlets at our possession.
